Saffron Grange awarded two Silver medals at the Decanter World Wine Awards!
We are absolutely delighted to share the news that Saffron Grange has scooped up not one, but two Silver medals at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards! The world’s largest wine competition, Decanter World Wine Awards is hugely influential and trusted internationally for its rigorous judging process.
These awards come just weeks after our Sparkling Rosé was awarded a high silver (93 points) in the International Wine Challenge Awards to add to our growing collection of trophies!
The first Decanter award we received was for our ever-popular 2018 Classic Cuvée, which the judges described as an “elegant wine with ripe red fruits, red apples, citrus, and savoury complexity. There are pastry and brioche notes and a delicious hint of honey. Deft.’
We were also thrilled that our new 2018 Blanc de Noirs was recognised for its ‘aromas of citrus and red fruit on the nose, with lemon and raspberry sherbet on the palate. Also present are strawberry pastilles and a touch of liquorice, along with flaky pastry. Long finish.’
We faced tough competition in a record-breaking year, with over 18,000 wines judged from 54 countries, making our medals all the more rewarding. Judges included 250 international wine experts, including 41 Masters of Wine and 13 Master Sommeliers.
This year, the UK had its highest-ever number of medals awarded, from well-established vineyards to new and emerging businesses. We are honoured to sit in such distinguished company and offer our heartfelt congratulations to all this year’s winners.
