Meet Lauren

Lauren joined the Front of House team last Summer and with her can-do attitude, warm and friendly nature and positive personality she has very quickly become an invaluable member of the team. We took the opportunity at the beginning of the year to sit down and find out a bit more about her and her role at Saffron Grange…

Tell us a bit more about yourself (where you’re from, where you’ve worked previously etc)

I grew up in Essex and moved from Stapleford Abbotts to Saffron Walden 2 years ago, with my husband, 3 kids and Margot our Cockerpoo and haven’t looked back since!

Before having kids and embracing the chaos of a busy, family life, I worked in London as a Fabric Designer for Burberry.

Now the kids are a bit older and we’re all settled in Saffron Walden, I felt ready to embark on a new challenge and was on the lookout for an exciting role to help get me back into the working world.

How did you first hear about Saffron Grange?

I first met Aimie on the school run (as we both have kids who go to the local primary school) and she introduced me to Saffron Grange. I was totally inspired by what they had created, 5 minutes down the road and enjoyed a glass or two whenever there was an opportunity to! When I saw the advert pop up for a Front of House Assistant, I just had to take the opportunity to apply!

What’s your favourite Saffron Grange wine and vintage to date and why?

My favourite Saffron Grange wine would have to be the 2020 Seyval Blanc Reserve. Seyval Blanc was a grape variety that I had never heard of before working here and in my opinion there is no better combination than a glass of cold Saffron Grange Seyval Blanc and a seafood platter from Saffron Fish Co – if you haven’t tried it yet, it’s an absolute must!

What’s the best thing about working at Saffron Grange?

The best part is that you are instantly made to feel like an honorary family member and made to feel so welcome and a valued part of the team. Oh and the weekly team drinks and our annual Harvest celebration is pretty good too!

What has been your best memory at Saffron Grange to date?

There have been so many fun memories already! Our big family-friendly event in September; ‘Mammoth Day Out’ definitely sticks out as one of the best. It was an incredibly hot day but it was such a great atmosphere and amazing to be a part of.

What are you most looking forward to in 2024?

I’m looking forward to working at more events and to the new tour season launching again in the Spring. The team have so many exciting plans in preparation already and I can’t wait to be part of it all. I am also looking forward to embarking on my WSET journey and learning more about wine as well as sampling some very exciting new releases too!
