Batch #2 with extended lees ageing is now available to buy after batch #1 sold out in record time.
We are so thrilled to announce the return of our Blanc de Blancs; a style of wine that we personally love here at Saffron Grange. After selling out of our first batch of this 2021 Blanc de Blancs, we have re-released the second batch which has had over 38 months on the lees, our longest lees-aged wine to date.
The peak in temperature at the end of the summer in 2021 benefited the vintage after a cooler start to the season and the vines went onto enjoy a dry and sunny October. Due to our dry climate, we were able to allow our grapes to hang for longer and benefit from the later sunshine and it was by far the latest harvest we have had with us picking as late as Guy Fawkes Night. We are delighted with the results of this particular 2021 vintage and the Seyval Blanc Reserve, the Sparkling Rosé and the Classic Cuvée have all been going down a storm with you all so far.
This signature vintage wine is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, gently pressed and then aged for a minimum of 38 months in bottle and on its’ yeast lees and was disgorged in the summer to allow the wine to fully integrate before its release.
This Blanc de Blancs is abundant with orchard fruits, apple blossom and candied lemon on the nose with delicate yuzu, white peaches and a hint of flaky pastry on the palate. This latest release is beautifully balanced with zesty acidity and notes of toasted hazelnut and a creamy, long finish.
We recommend enjoying this wine chilled on its own as an aperitif or, with seared scallops, creamy chicken cooked in a white wine sauce or with artisanal British cheeses.
This wine is also available by the case (6 bottles).
